Fold a Material
Type Exploration
Exploring typography and language through materials. I started to record the process of the word changing as it was folded then unfolded, presenting a definition of “fold” which focused on how type has changed both physically and its language meaning through the making process. The letter pressed flip book and digital animation presented the abstracting of the type back towards its then
original form.

Speculative Books
Speculative books base around topics which I find interesting not necessarily related to creative topics. But are generated from a question, conversation or hybrid topic. Allowing me to explore through art direction, layout, typography and including my own illustrated content or generated imagery around the topic. Books featured below are The Role of Hair in Art History and Mountains and why we decide to climb them.
Drawing Experiments
with Conditional Design
Conditional Design Manifesto is created by Luna Maurer, Edo Paulus, Jonathan Puckey, Roel Wouters. With their work focusing on process rather than products or a final outcome. Within this project I wanted to apply the conditional design process towards an audience which felt they didn’t have the technical or creative ability to draw. I adapted and create my own task to build the confidents of the participates made them feel more at ease when drawing and less intermediated to using it as a tool to communicat. Together we created a group booklet of the drawings we made throughout the process
Concrete Data
This project is developed around the collection of data on concrete textures within the Elephant and Castle area. Concrete can be perceived as a mundane, everyday, brutal and ugly material hopefully through this collection of data it forms a new perception of the beauty within concrete. With the publication working as guide documenting the current landscape of Elephant and Castle, with geolocations of each piece of data allowing the reader to trace its original location. Each individual texture was generated through the process of traditional rubbings and sits within a concrete cast slipcase.
Independent Project
The design kit is made up of limitations for the designer or creative to pick from colours, typeface, grid ect resulting in a restricted design palette. Using process words or prompts the kit allows the creative to go about making. Generating towards a body of work and overall focusing on design process and improving design awareness and skill through hand-making, to create possible initial ideas for future design pieces. I used it practice and develop my skills in combining illustration and type into outcomes.
